With the recent launch of Xbox Cloud in New Zealand, our gaming team decided to have a look at how clarity boost works within Edge.
The results are conclusive that there is a type of upscale magic at work and there is a perceived clarity.
To enable clarity boost, simply login to your Xbox Cloud Gaming BETA account here: https://www.xbox.com/en-US/play
Choose any game that is support. We were using Jedi Fallen Order as our go to.
Once the game launches, click the menu at the top left and you will see the Clarity Boost mode.
Then you can simply toggle on and off.

Using the rock texture, you can see with clarity boost enabled the rock appears to show more grain.
This is a common technique we have seen with upscaling devices, so it is interesting to see it applied here.
As keen tech enthusiasts, we love how Microsoft is leading the charge with cloud gaming that expands the Xbox ecosystem to a large range of devices.
While your Xbox Series X or high-end gaming rig will offer you the best clarity and GPU enhancements. For many, the simple fact of playing a Game Pass game on a low-end PC with Edge, or even soon with Samsung TVs. This will open up a new era in gaming.
The question is, will you sacrifice quality for convenience? I think a majority of casual gamers will take the convenience….
